S. Christopher Yoo is a Shareholder in the firm's Santa Ana office and member of the Litigation department. Chris concentrates his practice in the areas of business and civil litigation, with emphasis in financial institution representation.
In his trial experience as the lead attorney, Chris has successfully represented financial institutions, public entities, public and private companies and individuals in both State and Federal courts. He has represented clients in complex litigation matters including state and national class actions and unfair business practice lawsuits. He is also an experienced litigator on ERISA, insurance and employment matters.
For the past twenty years, Mr. Yoo has prosecuted and defended claims involving individual lending transactions, and defended class actions. Mr. Yoo has extensive experience in representing financial institutions in mortgage related litigation as well as commercial/business loan related litigation. As to commercial loan related litigation, Mr. Yoo has brought judicial foreclosure and receivership actions for financial institutions, and prosecuted collection actions for various types of commercial and business related loans. As to mortgage related litigation, Mr. Yoo also extensive experience in defense of wrongful foreclosure and fraud claims, unfair business practices, RESPA, TILA and federal and state unfair debt collection practice claims, federal and state credit reporting act claims, lien priority disputes, claims involving force-placed insurance, misapplication of payment allegations, title disputes and title claims, and civil and criminal forfeiture actions. In this regard, for the past twenty years, Mr. Yoo has literally handled thousands of cases for financial institution clients, and obtained judgments in favor of his clients in early stages of litigation, and has developed a reputation for resolving cases in a cost effective manner. In addition to representing financial institutions, Chris has represented various private companies, restaurants, grocery stores, and public entities involving commerical and real estate related disputes, including trademark infringement lawsuits, licensing disputes, contract disputes, and commerical lease disputes.
Mr. Yoo has significant jury and bench trial experience representing financial institutions, and beyond the trial court level, Mr. Yoo has represented his clients in hundreds of appellate matters, in both California appellate courts and the 9th Circuit Court.
