Nitya N. Ram is an Associate Attorney in AlvaradoSmith’s Orange County office. Her practice areas include real property, environmental & natural resources and general litigation.
Nitya received her J.D. in 2015 from the UC Irvine School of Law, and her B.S. in 2011 from New York University. During law school, Nitya participated in clinical programs, including the Immigrant Rights Clinic, the Department of Fair Employment and Housing Clinic, and the International Human Rights Clinic. As a clinical student, Nitya individually represented detainees in administrative hearings, participated in SB1038 mediations, pitched policy proposals to local law enforcement and congressional members, and assisted in cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and District of Columbia.
While in law school, Nitya also participated in the Experian/Jones Day Moot Court Competition, took numerous leadership positions in student-run activities, and was awarded for her leadership in various pro bono projects. She graduated with Pro Bono Honors for completing over 150 hours of pro bono service as a law student.
Before joining AlvaradoSmith, Nitya was a Civil Rights Fellow for the Legal Division of the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing. There she gained extensive investigation, mediation, and civil litigation experience in employment and housing discrimination matters.
